In place of our: “Those Were The Days” presentation here is another “back in the days”. Let’s go back 54 years, almost to the day, March 24, 1967. We are looking north from just west of the Ste. Rte. 2 overpass, south of the current day Health Department. Burlington locomotive 226 (GP7) is pulling the “Oregon Turn” as it was referred to, off the Mt. Morris branch at twilight. They will tie onto the express mail cars with catalogs, and mailers from Kable Brothers Printing and head east to the Burlington’s EOLA yard in Aurora. The track seen diverging off in the lower left corner is the west lead into the Oregon yard.
