2006 RESTORATION
Progress as told by Bob Rees
The Faithful Return Yet Again!!!
For the fifth consecutive year, the alumni group from the Oregon high school graduating class of 1949, gathered to share friendships with each other, and hard work on the depot. Included on their list of accomplishments for this year was more painting and the staining/sealing of the new millwork donated by Cain Millwork of Rochelle. The group also removed the soffit from the north side of the depot, and installed the hardware for the freight doors. The City of Oregon recognized their contributions by providing a dinner at the Pepper Mill restaurant in Mount Morris.
Depot Restoration Traveling Display
During 2006, a new display featuring our Depot Restoration effort was assembled. Carol Merbach and Rosemary Underwood represented the Depot in presenting the display at several functions during the year. Hopefully the display will enhance our visibility to the general public and promote their financial support.
The return of the Christmas Tree
This year’s Open House included again a beautifully decorated and brightly lighted Christmas Tree. In the absence of last year’s construction clutter, we and our visitors were once again able to enjoy this delightful tradition of the holiday season.
